WEBINAR ON “OPPORTUNITIES FOR MICROBIOLOGISTS IN FOOD INDUSTRIES”

Department of Microbiology, Peri College of Arts and Science organized a webinar on “Opportunities for Microbiologists in Food industries” on 30th October 2020. The webinar aims to cultivate job awareness in food industries among the students. The guest speaker for the webinar was Mr.Shamsudheen Cherukaraparambil, Quality Leader, Mondalez Bahrain Biscuits W.L.L. His works are support plant from hygienic design, allergen management, sanitation, pest management, quality and food safety issues. He is in charge for countries in Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.

More than 52 participants joined the webinar using Microsoft Team. The program commenced at 12 PM. The Program started with a welcome address given by Dr. P. Nirmala, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology. A special and warm welcome was conveyed to the chief guest, for his presence. Then, the Felicitation Address was given by Dr. V. Simson Rajkumar, Vice Principal I/C. He appreciated the Chairman, Mr. Saravanan Periyasamy and COO, Mr. Sasi Veerarajan for their encouragement to organize the webinar for the welfare of the students. He felicitated the Guest of Honour. Then Dr. Gouse Basha, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology introduced the speaker Mr. Shamsudheen Cherukaraparambil.

Our speaker, Mr.Shamsudheen Cherukaraparambil greeted the gathering and highlighted the importance of opportunities for microbiologists in food industries. The speaker was enthusiastic all over the session. He explained clearly different positions the food industry has for the microbiologists and advised the students to think beyond the microbiologist positions such as quality manager, quality controller, quality specialists, allergen management, pest management, manufacturing lead, laboratory head, food safety lead, research and development. After finishing his lecture the speaker had question and answers session. Student and staff clarified their doubts regarding food industries. He wished them all success.

The webinar was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. P. Nirmala. Heartfelt thanks extended to the Chairman, Mr. Saravanan Periyasamy and COO, Mr.Sasi Veerarajan, and the Principal, Dr. A. Gunasekaran and Vice Principal I/C Dr. V. Simson Rajkumar. Special thanks conveyed to the guest of honor, Mr.Shamsudheen Cherukaraparambil, who accepted to deliver the lecture and graced the event. She also thanked her fellow faculties and the administrative staffs for the grand success of the event. Feedback link was sent to the participants and recorded.
