The Department of Criminology and Police Administration had organized a webinar on “CRIME AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE” from 02.06.2021 to 05.06.21. It was organised exclusively for the students and faculty members of Peri College of Arts and Science and also colleges in and around Chennai. Mr. Vishnu Kumar, Dr. S. Latha, Dr. Michael L. Valan and Dr. M. Uma Maheshwari were the resource persons of the respective days. For this lecture series, the invite and the registration link using the Google Meet was circulated among students and faculties of the colleges in and around Chennai.

The Department of Criminology and Police Administration had organised the webinar to expose the students to wide range of ideas and Scope as well as opportunities in Criminology. A total of 200+ participants including students and faculty members of other colleges registered and joined the webinar.

Mr. M. Vishnu Kumar, a versatile person, reached the position of Joint Director in Intelligence Investigation at Detective International, through his persistent efforts. He has guided so much of youngsters over the past 3 years. Dr. S. Latha, Assistant Professor with immense knowledge guides the students with proper criminological perspective. Dr. Michael L. Valan, a versatile Assistant professor spreads his knowledge towards students and he explained the terms involved in the subject. Dr. Uma Maheshwari, Professor in the Department of Politics and public Administration hails her topic and makes an interactive and informative session.

The Program started with a welcome address given by Dr. P. Nirmala, Head, Department of Science, Peri College of Arts and Science. A special and warm welcome was conveyed to the chief guest for their presence every day. Dr. V. Simson Rajkumar, Vice Principal, Peri College of Arts and Science felicitated the gathering. Ms. V. Kamalishri, Assistant Professor, Department of Criminology and Police Administration and Mrs. J. Aruna, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, introduced the guest speakers. The session started at 10.00 AM. The entire session was a quite interesting and interactive. Mr. Vishnu Kumar, Dr. S. Latha, Dr. Michael L. Valan and Dr. Uma Maheshwari clarified the queries asked by the participants. They also gave suggestions on Scope involved in Detective as well as live case studies, Beware and Be Aware of Social media Crimes, Understanding Juvenile Justice and the factors involved in Criminal Justice Policy. The session was considerably interactive and informative that the students came to know about the wide range of information and ideas regarding Criminology and Police Administration.

The session ended at 12.00 PM with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Subasri, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Dr. S. Gouse Basha, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology wherein both are expressed their gratitude to the resource persons Mr. Vishnu Kumar, Dr. S. Latha, Dr. Michael L. Valan, Dr. Uma Maheshwari, the management and the participants. Heartfelt thanks extended to the Chairman, Mr. Saravanan Periyasamy and COO, Mr. Sasi Veerarajan, and the Principal, Dr. A. Gunasekaran, Vice Principal, Dr. V. Simson Rajkumar and Head of the Department, Dr. P. Nirmala. Special thanks conveyed to the guest of honor, who accepted to deliver the lecture and graced the event. Feedback link was sent to the participants and recorded. At the outset, the programme served the purpose of what it was intended.

Participants had also given a good feedback about the webinar. Around 160+ feedback forms were received from which it was observed that the students found the webinar more effective and informative and also requested to conduct more webinars for the welfare of students.
