Invitation of Blood Donation Drive


PERI College of Pharmacy has organized a BLOOD DONATION DRIVE on the occasion of “World Blood Donors Day” on 15th JUNE 2023. It was organized by Dr. P.Valentina, Principal, PERI College of Pharmacy and co-ordinated by Dr. K.Karthik, Assistant Professor, Peri College of Pharmacy. Dr.Priya M.B.B.S., MD, Resident, Immunohaematology and Transfusion Medicine,The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai was the Chief guest. The camp took place in Beta Block, PERI Knowledge Park.

The programme started at 10:00 am with the welcome address by Dr.K.Kulathuran Pillai, Professor, Department of Pharmacy. The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on 15.06.2023 at 10.00 a.m by the Chief guest Dr. Priya, along with the other Technicians , Department of Transfusion Medicine, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University and faculty members of PERI College Of Pharmacy.

The key note address was given by Mr.Selvakumar, Technician, Department of Transfusion Medicine, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University.He gave an inspirational speech that blood donation is a very noble cause and if you can save the lives of others you are no less a life saver than the doctors.

The volunteers were students from PERI EDUCATION (Pharmacy, Nursing and Engineering) who came forward with great energy and enthusiasm. Two Police Officials from Ooteri Police Station also stepped forward to donate blood which was stimulating.

Total number of donors were 79 and the units collected was 39 which caused an overwhelming feeling. The deferrals were 40 due to health reasons like low B.P, high B.P, low haemoglobin, underweight, mensturation, seizure etc. A Certificate of Appreciation, donation card and refreshment was given to each donor as a token of gratitude.

The camp was ended by 3.00 p.m and the vote of thanks was conveyed by Dr.K.Karthik, Assistant Professor, Peri College of Pharmacy. He thanked the management and The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai for giving an opportunity to organize the camp. He also thanked the Chief Guest, principal, faculty members, volunteers, donors and other officials for their active support for making the camp to be successful.
