On September 26, 2022, at 11.30 a.m., in honor of World Pharmacist Day, a guest lecture on the subject PHARMACY ACT - DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION was conducted by Dr. P. Valentina, Principal, PERI College of Pharmacy, and coordinated by Dr. K. Karthik, Assistant Professor, PERI College of Pharmacy. The day's keynote speaker was DR. M. THAMIZH MOZHI, Registrar, Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council, Chennai. The conference was held in the PERI Education conference hall.

On World Pharmacist Day (September 25), the speaker spoke on the significance of the Pharmacy Act of 1948, which was a very appropriate topic. The speaker concentrated in an amazing way on the roles of the State Pharmacy Councils and the Pharmacy Council of India. The Joint State Pharmacy Council and the responsibilities of its many members, including its elected, nominated, and ex-officio members, were also highlighted by the speaker.

The speaker inspired the students by outlining the categories of awards for Hospital Pharmacy, Community Pharmacy, Teaching Profession, Research Pharmacy, Regulatory Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy, and Best performing Pharmacy Council.

The speaker then moved on to discuss the crimes and punishments for people who misrepresent their registration as a pharmacist, drug dispensing by an unlicensed person, failure to turn in certificates, and obstruction of State Pharmacy Council Inspectors.

Students learned a great deal about the Pharmacy Act of 1948. At 12:30 pm, Mrs. W. Anitha, Associate Professor, PERI College of Pharmacy, gave a vote of gratitude and thanked the speaker for the talk. The Chairman, Mr. Saravanan Periyasamy, the COO, Mr. Sasi Veerarajan, and the Principal, Dr.P. Valentina, Department of Pharmacy, are all deeply appreciated. She also expressed gratitude to the administrative team, students, and pharmacy faculty for making the event a huge success. The National Anthem concluded the program finally.
