One of the most well-known harvest festivals in South India, particularly in Tamil Nadu, is Pongal. Every year, Pongal falls in the middle of January. On January 13, 2023, the PERI College of Pharmacy had its Pongal Festival celebration in Zeta Block in the PERI Knowledge Park at Mannivakkam, Chennai. The Managing DirectorMr. Periyasamy, Chairman Mr. Saravanan Periasamy, Chief Operating Officer Mr. Sasikumar Veerarajan, and Principal Dr. P. Valentina felicitated the function with their presence.

All the students and staff members came in traditional attire with dhoti and saree that completed the festive mood. To honor the traditional Tamil festival of Pongal, the students displayed a vibrant rangoli at the entryway. Students, faculty and officials took on the role of chefs as they lit fires and prepared pongal to celebrate the harvest festival.

After being offered to the Sun God, Pongal was given out to the students, staffs and workers. To raise the spirit of Pongal celebration some competitions like Uriyadi, passing the ball and Tug of War were conducted. The sugarcane and sweet pongal was finally served to everyone, much to their delight.
